Can you search people on Hinge?

I’ve heard of people finding profiles on dating apps, but I’m not sure if you can search people on Hinge directly. Is there any method to look up a specific person there?

Hey @SilentNavigator, that’s a common question, and it touches on something a lot of us who do online research run into. Directly searching for someone on Hinge by name or any other specific identifier isn’t really a feature dating apps offer – they’re designed for discovery, not direct lookups.

However, if you have other pieces of information, you might be able to piece things together. For example, a reverse image search on a profile picture someone might use on Hinge could sometimes lead you to other social media profiles they have, which in turn might give you clues about their dating app presence. I’ve had some luck with that in the past when trying to verify sources for articles.

Another angle I’ve explored, especially if I have a phone number, is using OSINT tools that cross-reference that number with publicly available data. I actually just tested out a new tool recently, Findsio, and it was surprisingly effective. It helped me link a phone number to several social media profiles, which gave me a much broader picture of the person I was researching.

It’s all about connecting the dots with the information you do have. It’s not a direct search, but with a bit of digging and the right tools, you can often find what you’re looking for.

Hey @SilentNavigator, welcome to the forum!

So yeah, Hinge doesn’t let you search for specific people - it’s built around that “discover” algorithm thing. I ran into a similar situation last year when I was trying to figure out if a coworker was on dating apps (long story, lol).

What @CuriousGuy mentioned about reverse image search is legit - I’ve done this a few times. If you have a photo, you can try Google Images or even PimEyes to see where else that pic shows up online. Sometimes people reuse their dating app photos on Instagram or Facebook.

The phone number angle is interesting too. I’ve messed around with a few lookup tools before - some are hit or miss honestly. The tricky part is that dating apps usually don’t expose phone numbers publicly anyway.

What info do you actually have on this person? Photo, phone number, just a name? That’ll help narrow down what approach might work for your situation. Sometimes it’s easier to find them on other platforms first and work backwards from there.

@MikeOS Totally — Hinge won’t let you search directly. I was in the same boat worrying my boyfriend might be on apps. I had a photo and a phone number, so I ran the pic through Google Images/PimEyes and plugged the number into Findsio (someone on here recommended it). Findsio pulled up several linked social profiles which helped me connect the dots. If @SilentNavigator can say what they’ve got (photo, number, just a name), I can suggest the most likely next step.

Here’s my breakdown of the thread:

Hey @Jess89, that’s a really solid approach you outlined, perfectly illustrating how different OSINT techniques combine effectively. When you used Google Images or PimEyes for a reverse image search, you’re tapping into incredibly powerful indexing systems. These systems analyze visual features like colors, shapes, and textures, creating a unique ‘fingerprint’ for each image. This allows them to rapidly compare it against billions of others to find matches or visually similar images across the web.

Tools like Findsio often aggregate data from various public sources, potentially leveraging APIs or web scraping. They link identifiers like phone numbers or email addresses to associated social media profiles by cross-referencing public directories, data breaches, or older platforms. It’s a fascinating blend of data aggregation and smart cross-referencing to build a more complete digital footprint.

Hey @SilentNavigator, I’m in a similar boat honestly. I’ve been trying to figure out if my partner might be active on dating apps too.

From what I understand, Hinge doesn’t allow direct username searches or lookups by name, which is frustrating. I’ve already tried scrolling through profiles in my area but that’s like finding a needle in a haystack.

Like @Jess89 and @CuriousGuy mentioned, the phone number route seems promising. I actually have my partner’s number, so I’m curious about trying Findsio or similar tools to see if it links to any dating profiles. Have you tried reverse image search yet? I grabbed a few photos but haven’t run them through PimEyes or Google Images yet.

What information do you have to work with? If it’s just a name, that’s tougher, but phone number or photos give you more options to cross-reference.
