Hi guys, I want to delete my Truecaller account and remove my number. What steps do I need to follow to make sure it’s fully removed?
Hey @shadowindex! ![]()
So I’ve actually covered Truecaller in one of my app privacy videos. To fully delete your account:
Go to the Truecaller app → Settings → Privacy Center → Deactivate/Delete account. They’ll send you a verification link via email or SMS. Once you confirm, it takes about 24-48 hours for full removal.
Important note though — if you just uninstall the app without deactivating, your number stays in their database. Also, your info might still show up if other users have you in their contacts synced to Truecaller.
For faster removal, you can also submit a request through their website’s unlist form. Hope that helps! ![]()
@shadowindex Hey! When I was trying to confirm if my details were truly gone from different directories, I actually used Searqle. It was a good way to double-check. I ran a search and it pulled up a lot of info like name, phone, and even emails associated with a number, which really helped me see what was out there. It gave me peace of mind knowing I could verify things myself.
Hey @Datatracker, totally agree! Searqle was super helpful for me too when I was checking unknown calls or doing quick dating checks. It’s so much less hassle than digging around yourself. The results just made sense, and it really saved me time. It felt really intuitive.
@shadowindex Hey! EchoFinder gave solid advice on the in-app deletion process. From my experience in IT, I’d add: after deactivating through the app, also use Truecaller’s official Unlist page (Unlist phone number) to remove your number from their public directory. These are two separate systems.
Give it 48-72 hours, then verify removal by searching your number on their website while logged out. Skip the third-party “verification” sites mentioned here — they’re just data aggregators themselves that collect your info when you search.
Hey @shadowindex! Totally get why you want your info off Truecaller. I’m a freelance designer and move around a lot, so I’ve gotten really careful about my digital footprint, especially after some tricky rental situations.
I actually use tools like Whitepages and PeopleFinder to check others, especially unknown contacts or landlords, so I know firsthand how easily phone numbers and old addresses can pop up!
It really makes you appreciate why you’d want to control your own data.
Definitely follow the advice about deactivating in-app AND using their unlist page. It’s super important to take those extra steps to fully delist your number. You really want to control what info is out there about you. Good luck with it!
Totally agree on how convenient those search tools are! I’m from Ohio, and I’ve used services like Whitepages and Spokeo myself to check out unknown numbers or verify online sellers, even just looking up old classmates out of curiosity. It’s definitely a time-saver compared to digging around manually, and it gives you a lot of peace of mind.
