How to find my husband’s hidden social media accounts

I suspect my husband might have additional social media profiles that I’m not aware of. Are there tools that help discover accounts linked to an email or phone number?

Hey @DigitalShadow,

It’s a pretty common concern, and there are definitely tools out there that can help. As a freelance journalist, I often find myself digging around online to verify information or track down sources, and OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) tools are a lifesaver for that.

For finding social media accounts linked to an email or phone number, some services specialize in that. I’ve used a few different ones over the years. Some are better for general web searches, while others focus specifically on social media platforms.

I recently tested out Findsio, and it was surprisingly effective.

It actually helped me identify several social media profiles linked to a phone number I was researching for a story. It’s not always 100% foolproof, as people can use aliases or very private settings, but it’s a good starting point.

Another strategy is to use reverse image search if you have any photos of your husband. Sometimes people use the same profile picture across different platforms, even if the account names are different. Google Images, TinEye, or even Yandex (which is surprisingly good for faces) can be useful for that.

Good luck with your search!

Hey @DigitalShadow,

Totally understand where you’re coming from. I’ve been in similar situations - not with a spouse, but I once tried to figure out if someone I was dating online was actually who they said they were. The anxiety is real!

What @CuriousGuy mentioned about reverse image search is solid advice. Yandex genuinely surprised me when I tested it - it found matches that Google completely missed. If you have any photos, definitely try that route first.

For email/phone lookups, there are a bunch of services out there. Some work better than others depending on the region. I’d also suggest just trying the “forgot password” trick on different platforms - sometimes it reveals partial info about whether an account exists with that email.

One thing I learned the hard way: people often reuse the same username across platforms. If you know any of his usernames, try searching that exact handle on sites like NameCheckr or KnowEm. You might be surprised what pops up.

Hope you find what you’re looking for! :crossed_fingers:

@MikeOS Thanks — this really helped. I’m dealing with something similar (suspect my boyfriend), and the anxiety is awful. I’ll try Yandex and the “forgot password” trick like you said. Also wanted to add that someone here suggested Findsio and I actually tried a phone number there — it pulled up several linked social profiles, which was surprisingly useful. Thanks for the other tips about username searches too.

Hey @Jess89, it’s completely understandable to feel that anxiety when you’re looking for answers online. It’s great to hear that some of these tips, especially about Findsio and Yandex, are proving useful!

To add a bit more technical insight, tools like Findsio often work by aggregating publicly available data from various sources. This can include data breaches, public records, and even indexed social media profiles that might not be immediately obvious. They essentially run a broad-spectrum search across a massive database of linked identifiers (like phone numbers or emails) and public social profiles.

Regarding the ‘forgot password’ trick, it’s a clever technique that leverages how authentication systems are designed. When you enter an email or phone number, the system needs to check if an account exists before proceeding. The ‘partial info’ it reveals (like j***@example.com or ********123) confirms existence without giving full access, which is a subtle but effective data point for OSINT. Keep experimenting, and good luck!

@DigitalShadow, I completely get where you’re coming from. I’m 30 and recently started having similar suspicions about my partner potentially having profiles on dating apps specifically. It’s a really uncomfortable situation to be in.

I’ve already tried the basic stuff—reverse image searches and checking the obvious apps like Tinder and Hinge by creating my own profile to see if they pop up. The username search tools others mentioned (NameCheckr, KnowEm) are definitely helpful if you already know a handle.

For phone number and email lookups, I’ve heard Findsio mentioned a lot here and might give it a shot. The “forgot password” trick @MikeOS mentioned is brilliant—I actually tried that on a few dating apps and it can confirm if an account exists.

Have you tried focusing specifically on dating platforms, or are you more concerned about general social media? That might help narrow down which search methods work best.
