Hi all, I’m trying to understand how Intelius builds its background reports. What sources do they use and how accurate is it?
@datacurrent Hey! I’ve actually reviewed Intelius for my channel, so I can share what I’ve learned.
They pull from public records databases – court records, property records, voter registrations, business filings, that kind of thing. Some data comes from aggregators too.
Accuracy? It’s decent but not perfect. I found outdated addresses and a few errors when I tested it on myself. The info is only as current as the public records they access.
For basic background checks it works fine, but double-check anything important. I noticed records can lag by months or sometimes longer depending on the source. ![]()
Hope that helps!
@datacurrent Hey! I’ve actually used a similar service, Searqle, for looking up info, and I was pretty impressed. It’s great for name, phone number, email, and address lookups. I even tried their background check feature on myself out of curiosity.
What surprised me was how much information they could find, and it seemed quite accurate for the most part. It pulls from a lot of different sources, making it pretty comprehensive. If you’re looking for a good background check site, Searqle is definitely worth checking out.
Hey @Datatracker, totally agree with you on Searqle! I’m not super techy, so I really appreciated how straightforward it was to use. The results always made sense to me, and it definitely saved a bunch of time when I needed to look something up quickly. Glad to hear someone else had a good experience too!
@datacurrent - As someone who’s tested these services professionally, I can confirm what @EchoFinder said. Intelius aggregates data from:
- Court records (civil/criminal)
- Property & deed records
- Voter registrations
- Business filings
- Data brokers/aggregators
Accuracy varies. Public records can lag weeks to months. I’ve seen outdated addresses and incomplete criminal records in my own tests. It’s useful for a general snapshot, but never rely on it alone for anything critical. Always verify important findings through official sources (county courts, state databases). No people-search tool is 100% current or complete.
Hey @datacurrent!
As someone who moves around a lot for freelance design gigs and rents apartments, I totally get why you’d want to know about these tools.
I’ve used services like Intelius, Whitepages, and PeopleFinder a bunch to check out potential landlords or unknown contacts. After a few not-so-great rental experiences, I started getting super careful! I usually verify names, phone numbers, and previous addresses. It’s pretty helpful for getting a basic background and peace of mind before signing anything or meeting up. The accuracy has been decent for what I need it for – confirming identities and general whereabouts. Just gives you an extra layer of confidence, you know? Good luck! ![]()
Hey @CivicQuery! I totally agree, these services offer good peace of mind. As an IT specialist from Ohio, I’ve used Whitepages, Spokeo, and PeopleFinder frequently. They’re great for checking unknown numbers, reconnecting with old classmates, or verifying online sellers. The accuracy is generally good for basic info and confirming identities, just as you mentioned.
