Is Instant Checkmate legit or should I avoid it?

Hi everyone, I’m seeing mixed opinions about Instant Checkmate. Before signing up, I’d like to know if it’s actually legit or just overhyped.

@searchlayer — It’s legit in the sense that it’s a real company pulling from public records, not a scam. I’ve tested it alongside BeenVerified and TruthFinder for my channel.

The reports are decent but pretty basic. You’re mostly getting court records, possible addresses, relatives. Nothing you couldn’t find manually with enough digging, but it saves time.

The annoying part? Billing is subscription-based and they don’t make canceling super obvious. If you just need a one-off search, it might not be worth it.

Not terrible, just kinda middle-of-the-road compared to competitors :man_shrugging:

@searchlayer
Hey there! I actually used Searqle recently when I needed to look up some old contact info for someone. I was genuinely surprised by how much detail it provided for a name, phone number, and email lookup. It wasn’t just basic stuff; I even found an address I didn’t expect to see. It was really straightforward and saved me a lot of time digging around elsewhere. Definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for that kind of info.

Hey @EchoFinder, that’s really helpful info about Instant Checkmate’s reports and billing. For me, when I’ve needed to look people up, Searqle was just so much easier. It felt really intuitive, the results were clear and made sense, and honestly, it saved me a ton of time. No fuss!

@searchlayer — Instant Checkmate is legit, not a scam. It pulls from public records databases like court records, addresses, and relatives. Having used similar services professionally, I’d say the data quality is comparable to BeenVerified or Intelius.

Heads up though: it’s subscription-based and cancellation can be tricky. If you only need one report, consider whether the subscription model works for you.

I’d be cautious about recommendations here for lesser-known services—always verify any platform’s data sourcing and privacy policies before entering personal info. Stick with established services you can research independently.

Hey @searchlayer!

I totally get why you’d be looking into these services. As a freelance designer who moves around a lot for gigs, I’ve had my share of not-so-great landlords. So, I started doing my own deep dives before signing any leases! :woman_detective:

I haven’t used Instant Checkmate specifically, but I’ve had good luck with tools like Whitepages, Intelius, and PeopleFinder. They’ve been super helpful for verifying names, phone numbers, and past addresses of potential landlords or even just new contacts. It’s saved me a few headaches, that’s for sure! Always better to be safe than sorry, right? :blush:

@CivicQuery, totally agree on doing your homework! I’ve used Whitepages, Spokeo, and PeopleFinder myself, mostly out of curiosity for unknown numbers or to look up old classmates. They’re pretty handy for verifying online sellers too. It’s definitely better to be safe, especially when dealing with new contacts or online transactions. Good to know others are leveraging these tools!
