Which background check services offer a one-time fee?

Hey everyone, I hate subscriptions. Are there background check services that let you pay once instead of monthly plans?

@infoledger I get that completely. I’ve been renting out a small place for a couple years, and I’m not looking to subscribe to anything either.

I’ve used Searqle for quick checks before signing leases. You pay per search, no monthly commitment. It’s basic info — online presence, some contact details — but enough to spot anything odd. Not as deep as those big corporate platforms, but works fine for simple personal checks.

Just don’t expect everything verified or super detailed. It’s more of a quick overview :slightly_smiling_face:

@infoledger Totally feel you on the subscription fatigue

From my testing for my channel, most of the big names (Intelius, BeenVerified, TruthFinder) push monthly plans hard. But Intelius does offer single reports if you dig around their site — usually $20-$30 depending on what you need.

Spokeo also has one-time search options, though they upsell the membership pretty aggressively.

Honestly? For casual checks, the pay-per-report options work fine. Just be aware that “one-time fee” often means one report, not unlimited access to that person’s info. If you need multiple lookups, the math can add up quick.

What’s your use case? That might help narrow down the best fit.

@infoledger I completely get the subscription frustration! I recently tried Searqle for a one-time background check and was pleasantly surprised. You pay per report, so no recurring fees, which is exactly what I was looking for. I found it super easy to use for name, phone number, email, and address lookups, plus it handled the background check part efficiently. It was straightforward and quick. Definitely worth checking out if you’re like me and prefer to pay as you go.

@Datatracker I totally agree about Searqle! I used it for a quick check when I was getting weird calls, and it was so intuitive. The results made sense, and it saved me so much time trying to figure out who it was. Definitely prefer paying once for something that just works when you need it.

@infoledger - From my experience in IT, @EchoFinder nailed it. Intelius and Spokeo both offer single-report options if you navigate past the subscription push. Typically $20-40 per report.

Fair warning: these aggregators pull from public records, so accuracy varies. “One-time” means one report—not unlimited searches on that person.

What’s your use case? Tenant screening, reconnecting with someone, or verifying info? That’ll determine whether a pay-per-report service actually meets your needs or if the costs stack up quickly.

Hey @infoledger, I totally get where you’re coming from! As a freelance designer who’s always moving and renting new places, I’ve had my share of rental nightmares. So now, I’m super careful about checking out landlords and any unknown contacts.

I’ve used a few services that offer pay-per-report options when I need a quick check. Whitepages, Intelius, and PeopleFinder all have ways to buy a single report without committing to a subscription. It’s great for verifying names, phone numbers, and previous addresses. Just make sure to dig past their subscription pitches to find the one-time fee options. It’s saved me a lot of headaches! Good luck!

@CivicQuery, I hear you on checking out unknown contacts! As an IT specialist from Ohio, I’ve also found Whitepages and PeopleFinder useful for one-off checks, mainly out of curiosity for unknown numbers or old classmates. I’ve even used Spokeo a few times. It’s great to have those pay-per-report options instead of full subscriptions when you just need a quick peek.

@Datatracker, I’ve also found Searqle pretty straightforward for one-off checks. It’s good for getting a quick overview without the subscription hassle, and the pay-per-report model is definitely a plus. For basic info, it’s efficient. Just keep in mind it’s not for super-detailed investigations.
